The Pillars of Wellness

The first step to living a life of wellness is to be clear in our thoughts. What you think about will determine what results you will have. Take full responsibility for your thought process each and every minute of the day because your thoughts affect every cell in your body. Thoughts manifest words and create a physical outcome. Thoughts are the first pillar in wellness.
Breathing is crucial to living and now recognized as imperative to learning. Most of us are oxygen deprived, from stress, poor environmental air quality and poor fitness levels. “The breath is the junction point between mind, body and spirit. Every change of mental state is reflected in the breath and then the body” notes Deepak Chopra *author of Ageless Body, Timeless Mind*
Good oxygen intake equals good energy. A person has approximately 29,000 breathes a day and breathing properly can bring health and vitality. Breathing simply allows us to process oxygen more effectively. Breathing is exercising from inside out. When we are breathing deeply we become calm, focused, relaxed and receptive. Our breathing should be unrestricted, uncomplicated and completely comfortable. Our whole being is energized and revitalized with each stream of air. Mind, body and spirit are in harmony. Breathing is the second pillar to wellness.
Drinking Water is the third pillar of wellness. Many people are challenged to drink water. They say they don’t like the taste of water which is why they don’t drink it. Well the definition of water, a clear, colourless, odourless and tasteless liquid. What’s not to like? There is another challenge today with water and that is most people cannot differentiate between hunger and thirst. Most think they are hungry and look for something to eat rather than have a glass of water to satisfy the thirst according to Dr. F. Batmanghelidj author of The Water Cure. Dr. F. Batmanghelidj goes on to state “that water is the basis of all life and that includes your body. Your muscles that move your body are 75% water; your blood that transports nutrients is 82% water; your lungs that provide your oxygen are 90% water; your brain that is the control center of your body is 76% water; even your bones are 25% water. Our health is truly dependent on the quality and quantity of the water we drink..”
